Bentley Goes All Craigslist On Us

BentleyIf you're having trouble finding the correct boot-lid badge for your Bentley--or any other part--the factory feels your pain. And they want to help.

For two days, September 26 and 27, the storied marque is having what can only be called a garage sale. Or as the Brits might say, an autojumble. Bentley itself calls it a "one-off parts and accessories sales fair," to be held at its warehouse outside Crewe.

Bentley Motors needs to make space in its 143,000-square-foot building for parts and accessories for new models, including the 2010 Arnage replacement that will debut on August 16 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

So the company is offering auto specialists and Bentley owners the chance to buy "anything from a V8 engine block or replacement gearbox right through to an indicator bulb or a pristine, beautifully illustrated 1950s handbook."

Bentley says it has more than 55,000 part lines for Bentleys made starting in 1955 (as well as Rolls-Royce cars built at Crewe), which represents an astounding 7 million new parts. Given the longevity of the cars, the factory takes "real pride in being able to provide anything from a humble speedometer cable through to replacement body panels anywhere in the world."
